I truly got a lot out of the book by Pastor Tom Logan of the Community Church in Fort Washington, Maryland: Spirit, Soul, And Body: What Happens to Each When We Die? In this case, Pastor Logan takes aim at a question that has nagged at him since he was a child: “What happens to human beings when they die?” Most fascinating to me was the discussion of why we are even here in the first place. In it, he shows the particular circumstances of the created universe that have allowed the development of higher forms of life on planet earth. He uses our scientific knowledge of our vast universe to make a highly coherent case for intelligent design. I really loved this book and I believe that any think person would find in it immense and delicious food for thought.

That relationship was/is a need that is woven into the framework of the created. That cellular-level relationship is crucial in explaining where we go when we die. The state of that relationship with God, our creator, determines what happens during that time. I like how the book broke down each of these aspects. The subtitle of this book caught my attention- what exactly happens at the moment of death? Many of us don’t give much thought to this until we lose someone we love or face the reality of our own death. This gem of a book provides answers, meticulously backed by Scripture, and gives the reader some “aha” moments. For example, these questions are addressed: When a person dies, does the deceased person know what is going on? Are Christians escorted into heaven? Are we given temporary bodies in heaven? An excellent assessment of Near Death Experiences (NDE’s) is given, as well as a timeline of resurrections. I agree with another reviewer that I have not seen this information so clearly presented before. One last note- I appreciate the author’s style of writing. He presents information in a logical, orderly way, defining terms to make his meaning clear. Since I am married to an engineer, perhaps I notice this more than most, but nevertheless, Mr. Logan’s talents are well suited for the valuable content of this book.
